Featuring music from five iconic albums — Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue, John Coltrane’s Giant Steps, Charles Mingus’ Ah Um, Dave Brubeck’s Time Out, and Ornette Coleman’s The Shape of Jazz to Come — this show pays tribute to the artists and their timeless contributions that reshaped the jazz landscape. Beyond the music, the performance delves into the sociopolitical, economic, and environmental landscapes of 1959, exploring how these factors may have influenced the creativity and direction of these legendary recordings.

Sacramento County Fair 5/22 to 5/26

There will be live music, carnival rides and games, contests and food this weekend at Cal Expo. The event runs 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for teens and $8 for seniors. Children age 11 and under get in free. Military I.D. holders get in free on Memorial Day. Sacramento Lebanese Festival (Free) 5/23

Taste of Korea 5/24 Free (RSVP Required)

Get a taste of Korean culture. There will be delicious Korean dishes and drinks like Beef Bulgogi Bowl, Kimchi fried Rice Bowl, Korean Corn Dogs, Yuzu Aid, etc. You will also learn to design and take your own fan, write in Korean Calligraphy and make your own Hanbook with Origami.
