When looking on the map, the area south of American River, east of highway 5, north of highway 50 and west of 99 is Downtown/Midtown area. And 16th street splits the two from one another, Midtown to the east and Downtown to the west. There is also a small area called Old Town which is a  riverfront historic district, with Gold Rush-era buildings, just next to the beautiful Tower Bridge. (Not a residential area) It is easy to navigate in Downtown because it is based on a grid system: Number streets run north/south while the letter streets run east/west. Golden 1 Center’s construction (an indoor arena) was completed in 2016 as the home of Sacramento Kings and it has hosted bands like The Who, Michael Buble and Roger Waters (Yes, Sacramento is a happening city) Downtown is the home to a lot of State Buildings and thus lots of State workers commute there for work and leave in the afternoon. Remote working after Covid has affected that tremendously and the after work traffic has diminished as result of that.
