Not sure if it’s record breaking but our ski slopes are covered in snow and it’s great time to be out there.

If you’ve never skied, then you don’t have the right tools and it’s always better to rent them for the first time to see if you even like it before swiping that card to buy the equipment. You can rent skis to save cash. Rental packages typically include boots, skis and poles.

Here is a list of some rental locations in the area. And BTW, I saw ski pants at Costco selling for $32.99 for ladies and $29.99 for men.

If you’ve driven down Freeport Blvd, you must’ve seen it and asked yourself what is this cabin-like building doing here. Per the conversation I had with them on the phone, they will start their ski rentals after Christmas. You have the option of renting the equipment on daily basis as well as renting them for the season. Better to contact them with any questions.

This place has a lot of history, going back 53 years. It has won many awards from Ski Magazine. It was picked by many as one of the top ski shops in North America.
From a brief call I made to their store, I was informed that they don’t rent skis any more. But they do have a deal that for kids 👩‍👦, you may buy them skis ⛷ and next year, bring them in (apparently kids grow out of them 🙄) and they will buy them back for 50% of the price and sell you new ones. It’s best to call ☎️ them directly or give their store a visit for more information. But they don’t rent skis to adults. Sorry. 😢

With many locations across the Sierra Nevada Mountains, you can rent what you need to enjoy the outdoors from anywhere you want. They are in South Lake Tahoe, Truckee, Roseville, Tahoe City, Carson City and Midtown Reno. Not only you can rent skis and snowboards, you can also buy men & women’s footwear as well as camping and hiking equipment.

REI

No local REI store rents skis or snowboard equipments any more. After a call to their Sacramento office, I was told “We are all out of the game”. So, no REI.

Options for next year:
Some shops might already be sold out on their rental equipments for the season, so you might want to start earlier next year.
