Visit a Farmers’ Market

Even though Sacramento’s winter is relatively mild (not this years’) spring is definitely a better season for hitting the farmers’ markets. From Roseville to Folsom to Davis to Elk Grove, no matter what community you live in, you’re likely to find a market near you! Remember: Dogs are not allowed.

Visit Sacramento Zoo for a Happy Hour

Where the “bear” meets the “beer” and the “emu” meets the “brew” is called Sacramento Zoo. Find out when River Cats are playing and catch a home game when you can. Remember: You can buy the cheaper tickets by sitting on the grass area (Home Run Hill) so you can spend your saved money on popcorn, hot dogs, and beer.
Visit Daffodil Hill

Only 45 miles from Downtown Sacramento, is the city of Sutter Creek, in Amador County. (Wine Country) Peter Fish, of Sunset Magazine, wrote that “Sutter Creek is the best town in the Gold Country … a Main Street lined with balconied 19th-century buildings. The prettiest Main Street you’ve ever seen? Visit a Nearby Winery

Nothing beats sipping on a glass of chardonnay on an outdoor patio in the spring. Or one can take a short drive to one Sacramento’s urban wineries, located in the heart of the city or just outside of town. The other option would be to make a day trip out of it and drive to Napa Valley, (only 55 miles away) home to some of world’s finest wineries.

See a Concert in the Park

Each Friday, from May to July, Downtown Sacramento Partnership hosts their Concerts in the Park series. Cesar Chavez Plaza (9th and J) comes to life with music from local and national touring artists, food, drinks, and DJs between sets. It’s a great way to celebrate spring & party all the way into the summer! This outdoor music festival is free!
Go For a Trail Ride Around Folsom Lake

Spring is perfect time to get out and ride. Boarding on the Lake is highly recommended for their gentle horses and friendly staff. $180 for a couple is not too much and one can find deals on groupon too.
Ride a Bicycle Through East Sacramento

Take an afternoon bike ride through one of the most picturesque neighborhoods in the region. Not only East Sacramento is home to Fab Forties, it is also packed with great restaurants, cafes and breweries. Temple Coffee Roasters, Pachamama Coffee and Tupelo Coffee are some of the favorite coffee shops. Lefty’s Tap Room and Porchlight Brewing Company are a couple of the favorite breweries. On Mother’s Day Weekend, you can attend East Sac Garden Tour and admire some of the area’s most gorgeous gardens.

Attend St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Old Sacramento

Welcome spring by attending St. Patrick’s Day parade and festival in Old Sacramento. Celebrate the Irish Culture along with 40,000 others from across the region. While there make sure you visit Evangeline’s Costume Mansion (open daily from 10 to 7) if you have never been there.
